Massage Therapy
is the manipulation of the muscles and ligaments often using oils and lotions to facilitate a gentle glide across the skin. The underlying musculature is kneaded with a variety of different strokes to provide the physiological benefit of increased direct arterial flow and indirect venous flow. This increased circulation helps decrease hypertonicity of the muscles and allows an increase in range-of-movement in the joints of the body. This is helpful to relieve pain, restore function and promote relaxation.
Aquatic Massage Therapy:
For centuries, water has been used for rehabilitative purposes. Therapeutic pools are used in many modern rehab centers and are usually maintained at 88°F for active rehab. In 1999, Aquatic Massage Therapy was added to the services at Claudia Salzmann & Associates with a warm pool that is maintained at a neutral body temperature of 98°F for passive rehab. The pool is custom-made incorporating design and technology from some of the world’s leading aquatic facilities including Harbin Hot Springs in California and Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Stone Massage Therapy:
has been derived from the Native American Indian culture, popularized in Arizona in 1993 by LaStone Therapy. The use of hot and cold stones has since been adopted and modified worldwide by massage therapists who are interested in providing a unique thermal element to their massage repertoire. The treatment technique is commonly known as "hot stone massage" or "stone massage".
Reflexology:
is a healing art based on the tradition of treating the entire body reflexively through the soles of the two feet. The manipulation of these zones with direct thumb pressure is believed to help the body enhance its overall constitution.
